Bio

Nationality: France Since the creation of his couture house in 1976, Jean Paul Gaultier has never stopped shaking up styles and stereotypes. Gifted with an exceptional know-how that he expresses in his haute couture shows, he brings the most exclusive professions together and offers a non-conformist fashion, open to society. From the echoes of the street to his personal history, the sources of inspiration of the “enfant terrible de la mode” are numerous. His spectacular fashion shows stage pieces that have become mythical, such as the corset, the marinière and the men’s skirt. In 1993, Jean Paul Gaultier launched Classique, his first women’s fragrance, which was followed closely by Le Mâle in 1995. In 2011, the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion house joins Puig, followed by Perfumes in 2016. In January 2020, the designer Jean Paul Gaultier bids farewell with a final show at the Théâtre du Châtelet. But the Jean Paul Gaultier house carries on with a new concept. From now on, each season, a designer will reinterpret the codes of the House. For his next Haute Couture show, Jean Paul Gaultier welcomes Chitose Abe, the Artistic Director of Sacai. Awards: Bambi - Fashion: 1999
